TRENT MEETS HOOK

The most important part of making music is networking. You can have great energy and drive that translates into your music, but without the ability to complement others you'll always lack a certain versatility. I can remember my favorite artists going back and forth on whole albums, flowing seamlessly through the instrumental. That has to take chemistry that doesn't come over night. From personal experience, I've made songs with people I didn't know well and they typically came out "generic" or "overpowering". Making music with friends or artists who make an effort to know my style, personality, and skill in the craft always comes out the best An example is from my latest project Locked In on all platforms 4/20/2020.

I remember when I drove to Chicago the day after a performance to go meet up with Uglyfriend, Brent Rambo, and HOOK. I got their early to not miss any chances to have a conversation. I used to hate doing these things[networking] because I felt as an artist I shouldn't have to seek out other artist. Overtime I had to humble myself and be open to every avenue which lead me to that show. Sitting around talking to people, I got a feel for who came for what artists and most of the HOOK fans arrived late knowing she'd be the headliner. To my surprise, I ran into an artist that goes by The L.A.W. of HUEY. The creator of the HUEY GANG collective and I used to go to school together and I've performed at open mics with them as well, so while avoiding sounding like a fan I got his attention after soundcheck to make the connection. There's definitely going to be a collaboration this summer after my projects all drop.

After many amazing acts from local and upcoming artist, HOOK came on stage to perform walking right through the crowd. It was odd because I couldn't tell whether she was there the whole time or she slid through fast, but she wasn't hard to spot with her pink aesthetic. Every song she performed has different sides of the crowds going crazy. Even in such a small space, moshpits erupted leaving the floors wrecked. Needless to say, she knew how to rock a crowd and had me going as well. Mind you, I designed the cover for her track GREAT produced by @JAMOWITHTHEBANGER & Brent Rambo, I was excited to finally meet her. After the show when I finally was able to meet her and NoJumper's LilHousePhone I kept it quick and exchanged the contact info for art or features. Moral of the story... don't be so air-headed to think reaching out is beyond you.
